Everyone knows there is no great ice cream without great ingredients. Owner Mandy Morrison was tired of the traditional ice cream parlour's air-filled and artificially flavoured & coloured scoops. Drawing on her Food & Nutrition degree from the University of Guelph and a 10+ year career in food science and dairy product development, she rediscovered her love of food and started hand-churning all-natural ice cream in her kitchen.
Batch by batch, recipes using only the freshest and most exceptional ingredients started filling her freezer (her family was pleased!). Perfecting the classics, along with creating some unconventional flavours with a smooth, dense texture was her daily goal.
In 2020, following the COVID-19 crisis and the closure of one of her sister-businesses, Mandy had to make the decision to give up her prime riverside retail location in Elora, ON or pivot in a new direction. Tenacious at heart, she opted to share her ice cream making skills with the masses and opened Scoop Ice Cream Co. in the summer of 2020.
